Today I met Val White at a nearby Walmart parking lot. She has bought a different motorhome and, since this is her “maiden voyage” in it, she wanted me to caravan with her to Bandera in case something went wrong. It performed well and she likes the way it handles.
We stopped in Buda to have lunch at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Imagine our surprise to discover, right after we were seated, that a former Cen-Tex member, Daniel Lewis, was at the table right across from us. He had already finished his meal but he lingered long enough to talk with us a few minutes.
Out next stop was at Camping World in New Braunfels to get the extra shelf for my new refrigerator, which they had ordered for me. I also had a $10 merchandise certificate that I wanted to use before it expired. I bought some toilet chemicals with it.
On highway 64 we went through three major road construction projects. Ach! We didn’t know about them in advance. Needless to say, we won’t take that route back home. Instead, we’ll go through Kerrville.
This afternoon Carolyn Nottleson joined us in time for dinner and will stay for the rest of the campout. We all had dinner at the China Bowl and enjoyed good food and good service.
Due to the heat, we didn’t do much outdoors until late afternoon, when we enjoyed the breeze in the conversation pit. We had a good rally even though we were small in number.
