Happy Mothers Day!

We had a lovely drive to South Fork yesterday. There were occasional bursts of wind but otherwise it was a nice drive. And the scenery was absolutely breathtaking.

We arrived at Riverbend Resort about 2:00. Dan, the owner, welcomed us with big glasses of water that he insisted we drink to help us with the elevation - 8,300'. After we got the trailer set up, Dan took us for a tour of the resort. They have 12 cabins, sleeping from 3 - 15 people; 51 rv sites & 6 tent sites. The resort offers 1 mile of private stocked river fishing, clubhouse, game room, hot tub, playground, etc. Riverbend Resort was "Kamp Komfort" in the 1983 movie "National Lampoon's Vacation & Dan said people still stop by to see where the movie was filmed. This full resort will be very different from the coastal rv park we've workamped in the past & we're looking forward to a busy summer. Here's the link to the website - www.riverbend-resort.com.

We arrived in lovely, 60 degree weather. We woke up to 36 & rain, which has continued off & on all day - interspersed with snow showers. Tonite & the next few nites will be in the 20s. David went outside to fill our water tank (we have to unhook from the water tonite or our hose will freeze) & set up the hummingbird feeder but didn't get done during the short lull in the rain so he got a little wet. The rufous hummingbirds are here already & the owners have some feeders out so we wanted to get our feeders out ASAP. The birds will need the energy to get them thru the freezing nites.

We tried to go to church this morning but discovered that the churches listing 10:00 services online are summer-only churches. By the time we found a couple of church having services, their services had started earlier. Now we know the service times for next Sunday.

We have a few days to familiarize ourselves with the resort before we start training. We're encouraged to go into each cabin & facility to see what's what before we get started. We're the first summer workampers to arrive - the rest will arrive by the 15th. Once we get our schedule, we'll be able to plan day trips around the area. So, more later...
