Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Marilyn & I were awake long before daylight this morning. Despite the early rising, we had a good eight hours of sleep last night. We were worn out and went to bed at 9:00 PM, waking at 5:00 this morning.

We sat quietly sipping our morning coffee and discussing the things we still needed to get done before we left.

I went outdoors, climbed the ladder, and took the digital TV antenna down.

I climbed the ladder a second time, carrying a broom to sweep the leaves off the roof and the slide out awnings.

We took care of all of the miscellaneous chores and walked over to say “So Long” to the “Cave Crew”.

For those we didn’t get to see, we send you cyber hugs along with our love and we’ll see you in the spring.

We pulled out of the Campground at 8:40 AM.

Jeff called us to tease us about the nice weather they are having today, at the place we just left. He says that as soon as Marilyn left, the weather turned off great! Marilyn threatens to make it rain for the remainder of the week, back in Hannibal.

We made one stop to top off the fuel tank on the truck and to drain our personal tanks. We grabbed a roast beef sandwich at an “Arby’s” next door and were back on the road after a nice stop.

We traveled 318 miles in 6 hours and 20 minutes, and then were all set up in about 30 minutes.

Alas, one of the first things Marilyn noticed is an abundance of those pesky Japanese Beetles here, too. We still have not traveled far enough south.

We plan to stay here two nights, taking tomorrow to clean some things and get more organized.

Marilyn is fixing some ham, fried apples and a baked potato for our dinner tonight. I suspect that a glass of wine may be consumed with our dinner.

We plan to settle down with the TV or a good book tonight. We look forward to another night of great sleep.

Monday, we’ll move on toward the Oklahoma/Texas border. We plan to be in the Dallas/Ft Worth area on Tuesday, maybe staying through Saturday.

I guess that is a warning to our friends who are watching for us. LOL

It is time to get ready for dinner so I’ll wrap this up. Now we’ll look forward to whatever adventures tomorrow might have in store…..
