We have arrived in Red Bluff, California. Our ride today was just beautiful. I had no idea that Interstate 5, between Medford, Oregon and Redding, California was so pretty. Normally we don't care to take the interstate highways unless there really is no other choice. We leave those roads for the truckers! I have to admit, I have taken us on some real doozies trying to avoid the interstate, but the scenery is almost always better and we just sort of meander along wherever we go anyway. So slow and steady seems to work for us.

Originally I had looked the Atlas over and decided highway 299 would be a good option to come across from Pacific Coast Hwy 101. But the kids quickly vetoed that idea. I was frustrated with them for insisting we do 199 to I-5, but they were right. This route took us past the lovely Mt. Shasta and Shasta Lake as well. I had to take the few pictures I got out the window at 55mph so I was bummed about that! There were certainly no turn-outs, and a couple of the rest areas in that area were closed, so we had to keep moving. But we made good time with no issues today, praise God.

We did not have a reservation for this area as we weren't quite sure what town we would actually end up in. My nephew Scott is getting married Saturday at 4pm in Cottonwood, just a few miles outside of Redding. So we stayed on the interstate until we reached Cottonwood but found nothing there. The one RV park we checked out had only one small space available, too short for us. They recommended we travel 13 additional miles south to a 2 month new resort in Red Bluff. Great advice!

We arrived at the Durango Rv Resort about 6pm and were pleasantly surprised. A beautiful facility, although a bit close to the interstate. But with all the amenities available and the beautiful Sacramento River just yards from our home, we love it. And the owners are wonderful people. I roamed the property a bit last night and took a few pictures and I think if you are ever in the area you would love staying here as well. A few of their amenities include an Olympic-sized pool, spa, sports complex, exercise room, and a really neat dog-wash that we plan to use soon! With 174 pull through sites including Buddy sites, River sites or Fountain sites, there is certainly something for everyone. Here's a link if you want to check it out in more detail: Visit Durango RV Resort

So that's it for now. We are here for 3-4 days and plan to explore as much as possible. Looks like there's lots to see and do. We might even float the river, don't know yet. Off to bed now for some much needed rest. Goodnight...
