Ian and Margaret's RV Adventures travel blog

Welcome to the 2008 edition of Ian and Margaret’s RV Adventures! This summer we’re heading to Alaska (with a long-ish ramble through western Canada along the way). We will be traveling with our friends Brian and Maryann Shipley, who are old hands at traveling by RV in Alaska – this will be their third trip. Since it’s our first, we’re letting them do all the planning and we appreciate it greatly!

We began our trip on May 12 with a drive to Page, Arizona, where we spent the night at the RV park at the Wahweap Marina. It’s a really nice park with a view of what’s left of Lake Powell and the lodge and marina. Reports had been that the rains and near-normal snows of last winter had replenished somewhat a seriously depleted Lake Powell, but it still looks much lower than it was when we were last through here two years ago. I wonder if it will ever get back up to the “bathtub ring” that shows where the water level was a decade ago.
