Fall Foliage in California

Acton, CA Campsite in Arid Country

October 19 – Travel Through Mojave Desert to Acton, CA

Our travel south through southern California was an eye opener. After we exited the citrus growing area, we came to the desert, Mojave, with tumble weeds, Joshua Trees, oil rigs, wind farms and solar power fields and mountains to climb, in third gear and only dry weeds growing as far as I could see. The distant mountains were barely visible due to smoke and/or dust.

We are staying at a KOA in Acton, instead of dry camping at a vineyard due to the afternoon heat.

Total Trip Miles: 6,750
