We had another beautiful travel day - & a short one at that. We left Cameron about 9:00 am & pulled into our rv spot here about 1:00 pm. Our drive took us from the desert to the mountain pines - back to the desert & back to the mountains. Coming south from Flagstaff we had one section of highway that was 18 miles of 6% downgrade (we were glad we were going down & not up!). But we enjoyed the sights the entire trip.

Following the directions to our destination, we turned on Mt Vernon St - also called Senators Hwy. We've been told that the reason it was called Senators Hwy is that this street is where the Senators (& other rich people) lived when Prescott was the Territorial Capitol of Arizona. The houses have all been restored & are really lovely. It was an unexpected treat to drive up that street.

We're now at Prescott Pines Camp in Prescott, AZ. We're here for a 3-week SOWERs project. The SOWERs ministry is a volunteer organization of retired couples who sign up for 3-week projects that are made available by agreements between the Christian organizations (camps, churches, mission organizations) & SOWERs. The men work 6 hrs/day 4 days/wk - the women work 3 hrs/day. The men do repair & construction work - the women do cleaning, painting, office work, etc. There are 3 couples on this project & we're all from the West Coast - another couple from CA & one from Washington. We'll start our volunteer work on Monday. So, more later...
