Yep, Safford, Arizona...We'll definitely return!!!

Can't believe our time here in Safford is coming to an end so quickly! What a great little city this has turned out to be. Very friendly folks and quite civic minded. We took a day trip on Tuesday (more on that later) but when we were on our way out of town Larry had the radio tuned to Kat Kountry 94.5. They were advertising the finale of the 8th Annual Gila Valley Idol, being held Wednesday evening at the Performing Arts Center right here in Safford. Tickets were $7 per person so we thought 'why not, sounds like fun!' And it was!!! Let me tell you, they have some amazing talent in this area, and as far as we're concerned they ranked right up there with this years 'American Idol' contestants!

There were about 20 contestants, and while the three judges deliberated, we enjoyed performances from past year's winners. They actually awarded prize packages & trophies to the top five and the winner received the same, plus a $1,000 check. Nice! We were so glad we attended, it was a fun evening.

This morning we stripped the bed and gathered up the rest of the laundry for a quick trip to town. We knocked that out in an hour and a half, filled up the truck and picked up a few groceries in preparation for tomorrow's departure. We were glad to get back home and put our feet up for a bit as we had a 6:45 reservation to dine at the Copper Steer Steakhouse this evening. Their mesquite grilled meat was highly recommended and it didn't disappoint. We were glad we split a meal after enjoying our salad bars. The portions were large and included a loaded baked potato, zucchini and homemade bread. A nice way to end our day!

We move on to Benson in the morning. But check back again soon as we had an interesting day trip on the Black Hills Back Country Byway. Life is good and we are blessed!
