Talked to Mom last night and she asked "where are you"? Which made me realize that I haven't caught us up-to-date...We arrived at Roper Lake State Park on Friday about 4pm. It was an easy travel day and a beautiful drive as we made our way east on Hwy 60 to Globe and then south on Hwy 70 to Safford.

Roper Lake has a stunning view of Mount Graham and 30 lake surface acres, a boat ramp, natural stone hot tub, a swimming beach, a day use island with picnic tables and grills, camping cabins and 3 campgrounds. We are camped in site 15 in the Cottonwood Loop. Every site is actually quite large with a fire ring, a covered picnic table, water and 30/50 amp power. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass and rainbow trout and is limited to small electric motors. Perfect for a sail board or a canoe. And birds, oh my! It'll be an excellent spot for birdwatching.

So, that's it for now. We've been very laid back since arriving. The weather is fabulous and the peace and quiet is wonderful too! Glad to be out of the 'big city' for awhile. Stay tuned as we explore the local attractions in the coming week.
