Today I had my “fat eyelids” cut down to size. They had been interfering with my vision for a long time. My good friend, Karen Enterline, picked me up and we arrived at the Bailey Square Surgery Center over 30 minutes ahead of schedule. They were ready for me immediately. The actual surgery took about 45 minutes and I was dismissed an hour or so later. Everyone there was extremely nice.
Karen took me to the pharmacy to fill my prescriptions and then to her home in Kyle to take care of me for a couple of days. Not surprisingly, the anesthesia made me sick. We arrived at her house just in the nick of time; I barely got to her bathroom in time to prevent an unpleasant situation. Afterwards, I felt fine. I ate a few saltine crackers to tide me until dinner time. I had no pain from the surgery. Karen made sure that the eye ointment and ice packs were applied regularly.
Not only is Karen a natural care-giver but she also is a good cook. Her husband, John, is a very caring person as well. For dinner tonight they made grilled chicken, green beans and corn, wild rice and sliced tomatoes. For dessert we had ice cream and chocolate chip cookies. All that really hit the spot!
They set up one of their large recliners in a bedroom for me to sleep on. Their dog, Brodie, accepted me quickly and even took his naps near me during the day. Periodically he would nudge me for a pat.
Today Karen was busy doing chores and grocery shopping. She made a cake for a baby shower and tonight she worked until the wee hours decorating it. She is very creative, so her cakes are always works of art.
