Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

Our new home here at the KOA in Ely, space 63, stop...

Mom & Dad, taken around June 15, 2008...

Arriving at the car show, held in the park downtown...

Ain't this a 'Purdy 30' Model A coupe?

With a cool trailer behind, it was way cool!

Doesn't this one look bad???

These Chevy's take me back to my high school days...

Loved this trailer & check out the White Pine Middle School across...

This license plate cracked me up...

And so did the drivers of the vehicle! LOL

This was one of my favorites, don't you just love these dolls?

This 4 door 1940 Chevy reminded me of 'gangster' movies!

Aren't these lights & hood ornament awesome!

Just a beautiful car, lights, hood ornament & dice to boot!

Larry really liked this 1939 Nash...

Here you can kind of compare it to newer models. I think...

Especially the back windows...

We loved the color of this beauty...

And the beautiful style of this 1928 Ford Sport Coupe...

A 1936 Chevy Sedan, nice....

For you Olds fans, a nice 1955...

And I'm not sure about this one, anyone know???

We stopped by the fountain to relax & watch this pretty black...

Well, you've probably guessed that we arrived safely in Ely by now! Sorry about taking so long to post, it's just been a wee bit hectic around here. We spent Thursday night parked outside of Mom & Dad's as it was sprinkling when we arrived & getting dark rapidly. They were both in good spirits & we were happily surprised at how well they both seem to be doing. Mom is shaky on her feet & apparently falls down quite easily but her color is good. And she tires easily.

We took her to the beauty parlor Friday morning & checked out a couple of the RV campgrounds in the area. We opted for the KOA as it is the farthest back from the main highway & the spot we chose has a small yard right off our patio & a large yard in the rear. Both maintained by the park, we like that! And we are surrounded by trees so it stays shady most of the day. Another plus, as the temperatures are in the mid 80's. We are paying a monthly rate of $260 + electricity. We understand that fluctuates, based on usage of course, but normally runs $20-90 per month. We are about 4 miles from the house, so it will be easy to run back & forth as needed. One of the areas they need help in most is cooking & cleaning up afterward. As we are doing a lot of BBQ'ing, we took our 'stuff' over there & set it up. And we BBQ'd steak on Saturday & chicken on Sunday so that seems to have been a good idea.

We are just a couple of miles from Comins Lake & understand there are several more in the general area. So Larry will be doing a fair amount of fishing & I will join him occasionally. It needs to be 10 degrees cooler before I like to sit out there all day! The 2008 White Pine Rodders 2008 car show was being held in the city park on Friday/Saturday, so Larry & I ran down there for an hour or so to check it out. They were having a contest on whose car was the loudest, voted on by applause, and boy, were they ever loud! A proud bunch of young (well older!) men and their toys! It was fun watching them whoop & holler! On our way back to the truck, we stopped to watch all of the waterfowl and the water fountain. One of Onyx's favorite places in town.

So, things are settling in. We will be making a quick trip into Vegas on Friday to run much needed errands & see our family there. Our granddaughter, Jasmine is almost 9 weeks old now & we can't wait to see her. And the rest of the family as well of course. The 20+ pictures today are from the car show, so you guys will probably like them best. But, I loved seeing them all, so who knows. Maybe they'll appeal to you gals too! Have a great day and thanks for checking in....
