This morning the medical center called to tell me that I needed to see a doctor to discuss my lab results because my cholesterol levels were high for Lipids, triglycerides and LDL. My HDL was good, though. I was able to see a doctor late this afternoon. They take walk-in patients between 4:00 and 7:00 on a first come, first served basis. I got there well before 4:00; so I didn’t have to wait very long. The doctor didn’t push drugs, which I appreciated. He suggested that I take niacin supplements and then return in 6-12 months to have my cholesterol checked again. If the niacin doesn’t do the trick, he will recommend that I take a drug such as Lipitor. He said that I’m in good health otherwise.
