Last one!

We are in Hartford, Illinois visiting the historic Lewis & Clark camp. This is the actual point of departure for the whole expedition. We have visited many of the camps all over the country, but this one was the most exciting. The address is actually One, Louis & Clark. :-)

The first thing we did was watch a stirring account of the expedition presented in a 12-minute film, “The Journey’s Edge.”

The highlight of the Visitor Center is surely the magnificent 55-foot full-scale replica of the expedition’s keelboat. This cutaway replica allows you to walk through the vessel to examine the supplies the Corps brought along and the manner in which they were stowed.

After the visitors center we went outside to see the cabin and the fort before driving to the actual camp area where the Missouri and Mississippi River run together. It was an awesome place to visit, we highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

We will be heading back to Branson in the morning. We have had a wonderful trip, but we are ready for our own bed and our Home Sweet RV. :-) Check back later for more from Branson.
