A short and beautiful drive today past El Paso to Las Cruces where we plan to linger a while. The sun was bright and the skies were the vivid blue we expect in the southwest. The route wound through the Guadalupe Mountains which contain the highest mountain in Texas in a national park. The summit at 5,400 feet was probably socked in with snow not long ago and there were signs warning of high winds. Today it just was a gorgeous drive.

We've driven past Las Cruces a few times. Now we will take the time to see what's here and recover from all that driving. The campground was still waiting for us as we arrived two days later than planned. It isn't full and all the snow they had has melted. The sites are spacious and the trees are few and far between. We should have no problems connecting the satellite dish and watching Downton Abbey tonight.
