It was a very easy border crossing from South Africa into Mozambique (even with a vehicle). The Mozambique side was even better organized than South Africa and was able to issue us visas on-the-spot in 5 minutes flat!
We had heard so much about the danger of the bad roads and potholes in Mozambique. The initial drive into the capital city was on a perfect road. We encountered a few potholes on the way to Bilene, but nothing yet to warrant the bad-mouthing South Africans give the roads.
Bilene is a small beach resort town where we stayed at a beach side campground suggested by the South African couple we met in Nelspruit (no view because of the shade palms). A very pretty place with a restaurant where we enjoyed some fantastic grilled prawns and fish. Good start to our trip, though much more wind than expected.
