Today we decided to explore the surrounding area by driving part the designated Champagne route i.e. through the villages and vineyards that produce Champagne. It is only in this area in the world that is allowed to produce a sparkling wine and call it champagne- a real monopoly and produced to very high standards. Hence why champagne is expensive!

Our drive took us through some beautiful rolling countryside, with vines on the slopes. We discovered an old roman bridge, a few interesting villages, an old abbey and some great views.
