Carpe Diem in Tolleson Freightliner customer lot

Wed, 28 Oct: From one service facility to another...

After two days in Lake Havasu City today we were back on the road, this time eastbound to our next service appointment. This time it is our coach's annual major chassis/engine/generator service at the Tolleson (Arizona) Freightliner Service Center. We have this inspection and service performed in Tolleson if on the west coast or at the Freightliner Factory Service Center in Gaffney (South Carolina) if on the east coast.

Since we spent the nite in 3Ts parking area we wanted to get an early start so we'd be out of their way when the coaches started arriving for service. Bob rolled wheels about a quarter to eight, relocating the coach to the street where we hooked up the car. After completing our checklists we got underway a minute or two before eight and joined the morning traffic heading south on AZ 95.

After getting every red lite in Lake Havasu City we finally left town and headed south thru Parker toward Vicksburg and Interstate 10. We switched drivers at Vicksburg (Bob let Sandi drive so he wouldn't have to deal with Vicksburg's traffic circle). East on I 10 into the west "burbs' of Phoenix (Tolleson) arriving at the Freightliner customer parking area a quarter before noon.

Once we got Carpe parked, levelled, and plugged in we headed to Costco for a food court pizza fix and some shopping. We're now back at the coach till we get "evicted" at 0700 tomorrow morning when they take 'er in for service. If all goes well they'll finish up everything tomorrow and we'll head back to Casa Grande Friday after the morning rush is finished.

Today's run was 183 miles with an overall fuel economy of 7⅓ mpg.
