Tonight I walked over to the pedestrian bridge across Lady Bird Lake just off South Lamar to watch the fireworks. There were many people on the water in their canoes and kayaks, as well as packed onto the bridge. The weather was very pleasant for the celebration. The temperature at 9:00 p.m. was about 84 degrees, with a nice breeze.

This year, due to the recent rains, the celebration was back at Auditorium Shores; last year, because of the fire danger, it was held at Circuit of the Americas. I was glad to have it back within easy walking distance.

I wanted to try out my new little Sony camera to see how it would do with these types of shots. I think it did quite well for a point-and-shoot camera, especially considering the fact that I hadn’t used my tripod.

While on the bridge I had a nice visit with a couple who live in the Zilker neighborhood not far from Pecan Grove RV Park. The man had a large Sony camera and multiple interchangeable lenses. He had it set up on a nice aluminum tripod. I’m just not up to carrying that much equipment around yet so my little Sony is the ideal solution for now.
