It's been a while since I've updated the blog, but we have been really busy. We went into Chicago on Saturday, June 23rd to finally get to see Adam who's been working an inordinate amount of hours unloading and loading shows at Steppenwolf, and most importantly, to finally see "The Girl." Laura is every bit as lovely as Adam had described her to be, and she fit right in with all of us as we played XBox monopoly (we're all VERY competitive), and laughed and talked. I took my camera, but of course, forgot to use it, so here are pictures that Amanda took of Adam and Laura when they traveled to Chicago with Robert's band.

Jeff went in for his appointment with the endrocrine nurse and dietician and when the nurse saw how his blood sugars were all over the chart, she immediately began talking about his being a serious candidate for an insulin pump. She wanted him to see the endocrinologist and worked him in that afternoon. She, too talked about an insulin pump, but first put him on a different insulin regime which is already working enormously better than the insulin he was on before. He goes back in on the 11th. All this in the three weeks we have been up here, when he couldn't get an appt in Dallas for anything.
We enjoyed our stay at Buffalo Park but when we reached our 14 day limit there, we moved ten miles to the south to Paul Wolff Park which is close to Elgin. We lucked out again with a really nice, shady spot on the edge of the grasslands. Paul Wolff was much fuller than Buffalo and is a little less primitive. No river view here, but still very nice. We were glad to get such a nice spot before the 4th when things really fill up. Adam and Laura took the train out to Elgin on the 3rd and spent the 4th as well with us. We had a great time. We sat up til midnight talking, then slept in as much as possible as a big storm came in during the night with lots of thunder and lightning.
The 4th had no rain, but temps were cool and sky overcast. Jeff smoked some great ribs and chicken, we watched Eddie Izzard on BBCAmerica and laughed til we cried. Their train back was at 8 p.m., so we went into Elgin early and spent about an hour or so at the Grand Victoria casino there. Jeff and I lost our paltry sum quite quickly, Laura came out even, and Adam walked out with approx. $50 more than he walked in with. Not a bad trip.
We're now looking forward to Amanda, Robert and the kids driving up on Friday and spending about a week. What fun that is going to be!
