We took a bus to Red Wing, MN this morning to board the sternwheeler America to begin our cruise down the Mississippi River. We're docked along the waterfront and it was a short walk to main street of the town. I walked to the Red Wing Shoe Company store where they have the World's Largest Boot, a size 638-D that weighs over a ton. According to the description, it is too big for the Statue of Liberty to wear. So far the food has been good on board. We'll probably gain 10 lbs. before we get to St. Louis.

We were scheduled to leave Red Wing about 5:30PM, but it appears there is a mechanical problem with the boat. They apparently have to fly someone in to diagnose and fix the issue. Not a promising beginning for our trip, but at least we won't go hungry. We're hoping the boat gets fixed tomorrow and we get underway. Stay tuned.
