2nd Formal Night

Champagne Glass Mountain

It was a cloudy, overcast, misty day as we pulled in Juneau, taking our place along with 4 other cruise ships today. It was a short walk into town for some, others explored the nearby rainforest and underground mining, while some rode the Mount Roberts Tram up to the top of the mountain. The view was great for just a short time, then the clouds took over. There was still about 5 feet of snow at the top, keeping the trails blocked. Quite a few went to check out the great Mendenhall glacier, then searched for whales and other wildlife. Back on the ship, as we pulled out of Juneau, our tour company had arranged a cocktail party for our group and the Illinois group that had been with us during the land portion of the trip. We all met, had a little wine and cheese, made a lot of pictures, and promised to exchange a few by email. It was our 2nd formal night, too, so we all gathered for a group picture just before our dinner. Most of us then enjoyed some of the great entertainment on board. The evening was capped off with a champagne glass tower and free champagne for all as all of the waiters and staff danced and served cookies. We had a great time!
