Today's journey was a short one, from Missoula to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We were only on the road for about 3 hours, and for the most part the road was good. The last 20 miles or so before the Montana-Idaho border were probably the roughest that we've experienced to date on the interstate highways. As well, there seemed to be many construction zones, especially near bridges, that reduced the highway to one lane in each direction. However, there were very few construction workers at the sites, and in some cases none at all. Not sure why.
It's the sixth anniversary of the WTC disaster and many of the TV channels are wall to wall with coverage and retrospectives. It's still fresh in so many minds.
We're camped for the next few days at Blackwell Island RV Resort. It's a lovely place if you have the right site, which thanks to Elaine, we have. We're facing the Spokane River and there's lots of grass and trees for shade, which is useful since it got to the 80's today (27 Celsius or so). There's even a place on the beach where the dogs can swim, and so they did for part of the afternoon.
We had a discussion with one of the staff who lives full time in his motor home (a big Pheaton) and travels here in the summer. In winter they go to Arizona or other southerly points, although he said he hasn't been to Mexico in years. Nice guy!
Heard from brother Phil today. We will meet them in Kelowna next Wednesday. He wondered if we would like him to book a championship 18 hole golf game. We explained our criteria for choosing golf courses and our expectations of the game (low and getting lower). We'll see if he can come up with anything.
Went golfing to the Coeur d'Alene Golf Club on Wednesday. Nice course, privately owned but allows green fee players. Played behind four women who were S-L-O-W. But this allowed more suntanning and scenery watching. All in all, and excellent day on the course (that means Graham won). Came back to the campground and took the dogs swimming again. Tucker loves it; Cassie not so much.
Thursday was shopping day. We looked up the outlet mall address in Post Falls and off we went...only to find that there were about 4 open stores and at least 20 empty store fronts! The other outlet mall advertised in the handout from the campground is not even constructed yet! Didn't stop us from buying a few things here and there, for boys etc.
