West Coast Trip - June 2007 travel blog

Today we're off to Campbell River. Left at around 10:00 am and took the 19A highway (Oceanside Route). A pleasant drive and a stop in Courtney for jewelers screwdrivers to fix my watch. Had lunch in Pinecrest Park and headed off to find Lonnie and Hazel (RV.net family currently camped at Salmon Point). Lonnie is aka "Grey Mountain" and styles himself as 0.000785% of the Comanche nation. His RV.net posts are often humorous and always on point. He wasn't home, but left us a note duct-taped to his motor home door saying they would be back at 4pm. Unfortunately, we will be back in Qualicum Bay by then, so we left him a note that made reference to his use of duct tape in a windy area. His RV.net response was:

Got your note - coming from tornado country, I know how to apply 100-mile per hour tape. Last tornado, I taped my horse to a tree. Worked fine.

Sorry we missed you. Timing was such that we could not postpone or change our visit today, but there's always tomorrow. I've appreciated your assistance on the various raids. Your portion of the pillage is in the mail.

Grey Mountain

When we got back, we talked with Vici (former neighbor from Calgary) and we will visit them in Duncan on the way to Victoria tomorrow. Talked with Abraham (we worked together years ago) and arranged to get together with him and his bride on Friday evening. We had dinner at the local pub, and on the way back, we got a couple of good pictures of a bald eagle in a tree very close to the campground.
