From the Wildseed Farm we went to the LBJ National and State Park (LBJ Ranch and Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm) (http://www.nps.gov/lyjo/). After watching the video we boarded the trolley for the narrated tour. It had been several years since I last visited the park so I noticed a few changes.
The Reconstructed Birthplace was built at the request of President Johnson in 1964 on the site where he was born in 1908. The Johnsons furnished the home with family memorabilia and used it as a guest cottage for a while.
The ranger told us that, after Lady Bird's death, the Johnsons' house was given to the National Park Service in accordance with their wishes. Their daughters are not happy with it, however, because it was 'home' to them. Currently the house is being made ready to open to the public.
