We finally made it to the beach at Paradise Hotel in Nungwe for two days of rest and relaxation. I was able to go snorkeling for the very first time. It was a really good experience although it took me a while to get the hang of it. We saw some neat coral formations and lots of colorful fish. I will have to go snorkeling again in the future.
That evening, three Masai warriors stopped by to visit a girl in our group who had befriended one of them. We eventually got them to do a jumping dance for us and I actually jumped with them for a few minutes.
On the way back to the mainland on Sunday, we took a two and a half hour ferry ride across the Indian Ocean. The problem was that our tour leader was late in returning, which caused us to be late to the ferry. As a result, none of us got seats. Instead, we had to hang out on the bow of the ship. It wasn't too bad, but it was a little uncomfortable sitting on the ground in the baking sun. The return trip was much rougher than the previous trip. Although I was laying down, I still felt some degree of motion sickness and some of the other members of our group felt it much worse. We were all very happy to get back on dry land in Dar es Salaam.
