|Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks since arriving in Ely. Mom saves up a list of 'honey-do's' for us while we're gone for the summer so we tackle them as soon as we get in. And, while in Oregon we purchased a new desktop computer for Mom and of course it takes a while to get it all set up & loaded with favorites, email program, browser etc. Mom's been running XP for several years, so Windows 7 will take a bit of getting used to. But she's catching on pretty quickly. I love the fact that she is on the computer several hours a day. Keeps her mind 'working'. She's pretty darn good at it too!
I too have a new laptop. My old one was just too small and was getting tired. I purchased a new HP laptop with a larger 17 inch screen. And a faster processor, better audio & way more features. I've been running Vista for the past few years so it's a bit different with Windows 7 for me as well. I know, Windows 8 was released just a week after purchasing this laptop, but I hate dealing with a new system while they are still working out all of the bugs. Maybe that was a dumb decision but I've made it, so now I'll have to live with it. So far I am very happy!
Thursday we had heavy winds all day & through the night. By morning several inches of snow had fallen & it continued to snow most of the day. And it was cold! We never got above 25 degrees.....brrrrrr
Yesterday the sun broke through several times so we decided to pick up a few groceries & take a drive. I wanted to see what Cave Lake looked like with the previous night's snowfall. We were surprised to see that the foothills had only a light dusting of the white stuff while town got about 6 inches. Anyway, it was a lovely drive & it felt good to be out of the house for a bit.
Last night we dropped down to 7 degrees and it is 30 as I write this. But the sun has reappeared and the snow is melting a bit. I think we're going back into the 40's as the week progresses. Sure hope so. We need to do a bit of rearranging in our basement as well as in the garage and shed where we have a few things stored. And Mom's cinder block garage doesn't retain heat very well. Not really looking forward to it at all!
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. And Larry & I want all veterans to know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made in their lives to keep our country free. God Bless Our Veterans!!!
