We arrived safely in Clearlake Oaks, California yesterday. We decided to take 101 South to 20 East rather than driving 1-5 across. Not sure if that was the best way or not as 101 South requires total driver concentration at all times. It is a very pretty drive but the speed limit varies from 25-55mph, 30-35mph most of the time, so it's a slow go. And it was raining a good bit of the way on Wednesday on the first half of our journey.

Another consideration if any of you are considering making this particular trip is the lack of open camping/RV parks along the way. We don't like to pull in the dark and always make it a point to stop way before then. But we decided to keep pushing on Wednesday, and after two failed camping attempts (one was way too tight, the other too pricey), we finally found Richardson Grove Rv Park. Turned out to be a PA park and full hook-ups were $16.50. We did an after hours park in the DARK, ughhh! Ok, I'm done whining now but suffice it to say I was very glad to be there! By the way, it's a perfect spot to stay in to see the southern end of the redwoods, like Avenue of the Giants.

The rains stopped by yesterday morning & we had a lovely drive the rest of the way in. We're here to visit my Aunt Toots & Uncle Will for a couple of days before heading back to Nevada for the winter. I think we'll get to see cousin Connie today as well. It's a lovely area here and of course Clear Lake is large and beautiful. We stumbled on a great camping location near the lake so we are currently happy campers. Looks like the weather will be nice our whole visit too! Life is good and we are blessed....
