Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

Welcome...

In case you've never been here, this is what I-40, NM looks...

Small pretty colored hills off to our right...

We stopped here for lunch, nice & quiet & pretty...

We passed an occassional trading post in case you need an Indian...

The small cliffs are very nice!...

All right, we're at the Arizona border, it's beginning to get dark,...

The sun is casting a pretty pink glow...

So glad we have arrived!

Larry's hooking us up by moonlight! LOL

This will be short & sweet! We drove over 400 miles & 7 hours today & we are wiped out! We took turns driving, with me doing the first 1 1/2 hours & 1 1/2 hour later in the day. But Larry still insists on doing the brunt of it. Doesn't seem quite as long when we trade off for at least part of the day.

Clear skies & temperatures in the high 60's made for a pretty day. And, after crossing farther into New Mexico the scenery changed for the better. We climbed as high as 7,000 feet but mostly stayed at around 5,000. Larry called it high desert. Beautiful red rocks along the way, but still flat & very dry.

I particularly love looking at the clouds (as you know!) so that always makes for a good trip for me. We listened to another of our books today (well 5 out of 6 of the discs) & that really makes the time go faster. Both of our backs (and rears!) have had it. One more day & we'll stay put for 5 days, hurray!

We found a Passport America park just outside of Flagstaff for $12 a night & it is 5 minutes from the Meteor Crater. We plan to go check it out in the morning before we pull out. So it's off to bed for now. Talk to you tomorrow. Goodnight....
