Heart of Alaska RV Caravan travel blog

The closer we get to home the less there is to write about. We have covered 8,944 miles to date. We have approximately 270 miles to go. I must say that I am looking forward to being home and seeing my Goleta relatives again.

Most of today’s driving was on 4-lane divided highways. The traffic was not too heavy once we got south of Reno, so it was pretty easy driving. Once we got to California again, there was not a cloud in the sky and the hills were golden brown. It looks as if northeastern CA could use a little more rain. The few times that we have seen a sign, the fire danger was listed as high.

We made it as far as Lone Pine today. The next place with a RV park with hook-ups is in Mojave and that is another 2 ½ hours drive. I didn’t want a repeat of Tuesday’s long drive and determined to quit here. We are stopped at a nice modern park with full facilities. The park is mostly empty but they put us in their smallest site just because we fit and not many others will. However, we are close to all of the facilities which is nice. They have free coffee & muffins starting at 7:00 AM so we should not have to cook.
