Fairbanks Ghost Town

38 foot diameter cottonwood tree, 130 years old

We have been to most of the places in this area of Arizona, so we had to search out spots we have not seen. First stop was the ghost town of the city of Fairbanks. Not much there, and there were more ghost towns in the area, but there was nothing left of them and the hikes would have been long, so we didn't go to them.

We found the San Pedro House while we were searching for another ghost town. It is an old ranch that is being preserved for history. It had a rather large cottonwood tree, it was 38 feet in diameter.

Then we went hiking to find a 13,000 year old site where paleo indians killed mammoths and buffalo. They have found several skeletons and removed them. It was a short hike but there was one spot where we had to cross this wash that was hard for Susan
