Sunrise in Kanab.

Somewhere in Utah.

A little local snowfall. Temp outside was between 29 and 31 degrees.

The journey ahead.

One of the little towns going north.

Another sunrise shot.

More scenery and less traffic than the freeway.

Not too many folks out here.

Heading out across or near the Great Salt Lake. Going west.

This is not snow. Part of the Salt Lake.

The first pass after Salt Lake going west.

Near the second pass. Yes, it's snowing.

Full of Surprises.

I was attempting to put some miles behind me today, in anticipation of getting through most of Oregon while I had a window of opportunity – in other words, before the nasty weather started. And in keeping with my desire to take the secondary roads, I cut over at Salt Lake, with the anticipation of going up through the middle of Oregon.

Again the drive up was very scenic. There was even some snow on the ground alongside some of the roadway. The temperature here was on the cool side, rarely getting above 50 degrees, with much of the day being in the 30’s and 40’s. One doesn’t realize the elevation of these high plateaus.

Then I get to Provo and the road construction begins. I was sure most everything in the trailer cupboards was on the floor after hitting one rough spot in the construction area! But after stopping and checking these out, only a few items cut loose.

The other unexpected turn was the elevation change going into eastern Nevada, and the snow I encountered on the top of Pequop Summit – elevation 6,987 feet. Fortunately, the snow was light and turned to rain a little ways on the other side. However, that didn’t stop the snow from falling for awhile after reaching Wells!!

And the adventure continues…………..
