We had another one of those “Wowser” drives today. There is so much to see and do in this part of Colorado, we have been busy beavers. Today we concentrated on the area between Trout Lake and Placerville, CO. We stopped at several locations along the way.
One outstanding campground was the Matterhorn near Ophir, Colorado. We spoke with the camping hosts for quite a while and found out some of the sites even have full hookups. The area is beautiful with the Dolores River running through the park. We may be moving there for at least a week. :-)
Our next stop was Mountain Village, another outstanding town in Colorado. You can ride the gondola from here to Telluride also. They have a very nice shopping area and one of the most beautiful golf courses I have ever seen. We will be making a trip back here just to ride the gondola again.
After leaving Mountain Village we enjoyed one beautiful mountain peak after another. This area is absolutely spectacular! It is one of the most beautiful drives we have driven in all our years on the road. I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story. Check back later for more from Colorado.
