The Land of Enchantment
28 October - I enjoyed another great night at yet another outstanding Texas Rest Area and this time I took advantage of the free WiFi. I walked a couple of miles around the loop and picked up my 600th geocache this morning before taking off in the early afternoon.

As it was starting to cloud up and get windy, I took a break in Amarillo and did 3 more miles in a very nice mall there.

Just east of Amarillo, I picked up I-40/Historical Route 66. Last year I drove the entire length of HR-66 and I’m starting to see familiar sights along the way now. A few miles west of Amarillo, in the little town of Adrian, the Midpoint Café marks the geo-mathematical center of highway 66. There’s an old graffiti pickup truck located there that I signed last year when I came through here however, it appears that someone, or something, has removed and replaced my mark with their own. Bummer! I resigned it.

After what seemed to be weeks of driving through Texas, I finally crossed the state line into New Mexico. I am now parked at Kmart for the night.
