Robert's concert

Today is the one year anniversary of our move into the Airstream. From the sticks and bricks over 1600 sq. feet to approximately 210 sq. feet, but a huge front and back yard that varies with each stop. It has been a tremendous year - we've never regretted our decision a moment. In fact, daily we are filled with wonder over the fantastic lifestyle we have chosen. We begin our second year on the road with anticipation of many new experiences as well as redoing some of the old ones.

We were planning to stop in Ranger, TX for an overnight, but when we arrived at the RV

camp, no one was there. We looked for instructions, found none, looked at the time, and said - why not just drive on in to Arlington and stay overnight at Amanda's house? We called Robert to make sure the road was clear in front of their house and put the pedal to the metal. He said he wouldn't tell them so it could be a surprise.

We arrived at their house at about 5:00 p.m. I could see Madeleine on the sofa through the door window and rang the doorbell. She saw me and hollered, "Grandma!" Jean-Luc came running, and they met both of us with big hugs and kisses. It was a great surprise.

Robert, who is the director of bands at Juan Seguin HS in Arlington was having his spring concert on Monday so we were able to attend.

This is a video clip of the Sousa march he played.

By coming in early, we were also able to attend the 2nd grade awards assembly at Ashworth Elementary where Madeleine attends. Jeff, Robert's dad (or as we call him Robert pere), Amanda and I were all on the front row, and Madeleine wound up sitting right in front of us

Waiting for Awards

The first award she received was for A Honor Roll

First Award - Honor Roll

, the second was for citizenship

Second Award - Citizenship
, and the third for computer skills .

The last awards given were for the boy and girl chosen from each class to be labeled Magnificent Mustangs (their mascot). As her teacher was reading the description of the female award winner, being the proud Grandma, I was adding mentally "That's Madeleine" to each attribute. Imagine our surprise and joy to hear Madeleine Poulin called out as the winner.
