|Gosh, is it Friday already? Don't the weeks just fly by? Before we know it the mornings will be a bit cooler and the nights will be a bit darker.
Today John, Lois and her friends Joe & Kathy went to see my Doctor (Shane Martin) discuss a new procedure using robotics for hip & knee replacements. With a group of people in a room all seeming to limp, we took our seats and waited for the slide show.
Before we knew it, I was listening intently as to what technology has brought us to. His main discussion today was knee surgery, but since it was so similar to the hip surgery he is doing on me it made sense to attend.
MAKOtechnology is the term. Using robotics with 3 D images he can accurately place the new socket correctly, using an anterior approach (spreading the muscles versus cutting them) making sure the legs line up perfectly even. This is less invasive, quicker time in the hospital (overnight) and 2 weeks or so recovery.
So, all that mess with the doctors in Seattle led me to Dr. Martin here in Arizona. I guess I could say...thanks for messing me up...now I have hope for a speedy recovery.
