We had a great time today at the Apple Fest in Buena Vista at the Turner Farm. The Historic Turner Farm was purchased by Buena Vista Heritage in order to restore the old apple farm to a "living museum" of the early 1900 vintage.
The farm features about 50 apple trees and five buildings: the two-story farm house, the "mother-in-law cabin," the homestead cabin, the garage/workshop and the barn/tack room. It was like stepping back in time for a day. We learned about mining, quilting, black smithing, butter making, sewing, & how to operate the apple press and make applesauce.
We watched children riding ponies, making crafts, dancing and they even learned how to wash clothes with the old washing board. They had wonderful music and lawn dancing too. We had a blast!
The people in Buena Vista are very friendly and know how to have a good time. We watched a lady learn how to Waltz for the first time, she had fun learning and picked it up fast. Another great day in Colorado. Check back later for more.
