Today was a travel day, we made it over two passes, Fremont and Vail. Fremont was the harder one to climb, it seemed to go straight up, we went really slow, we did run into a bit of slushy ice on the pass. It was incredibly beautiful with all the frozen lakes and icy rivers we passed.
When we got to Vail Pass, we were really surprised to see we were at the summit before we even knew it. We kept waiting for the signs showing we were actually driving on the pass and we missed them. By the time we saw a sign we had already done all the climbing and were at the top. So cool, all we had to do was roll down now. You could probably go all the way down without using your gas, we saw two runaway truck ramps for trucks out of control. I am glad we didn't have to use one of those.
We are staying in the boonies at a beautiful state park for the next five days. We do not have WiFi or even cell service for our phone. I will do all the catch up updates when we reach Utah and have good Wifi. Pictures will be added to this update then too. We are looking forward to a few days of wildlife and getting back to nature. We have already seen over 100 deer in the area.
The drive over the two passes was one of the most beautiful drives we have driven, it is part of the "Top of the Rockies" scenic byway. We also drove through Glenwood Canyon, it was so beautiful we are already planning a trip back in the car so we can stop when and where we want just to enjoy the incredible scenery. It was another awesome day in Colorado, check back later for more.
