We like to go to the movies, but if my memory is correct we only went once all summer. During the summer films seem to target teenage boys and involve a lot of explosions, blood, and comic book heroes. We also aren't into zombies or fantasy. But while we were in India this fall, a boat load of films were released that all seemed to have our names on them. Since our movie guru Roger Ebert is gone, we read tons of reviews and there were so many raves, we hardly knew where to start. We caught a few before we left, but there are many more to go.
There's a multiplex nearby that has so many good movies we could go every day of the week. We've been to some, but it seems a shame to stay inside when the sky is blue and the sun is warm. It felt weird to go to one at 9:30 in the morning, but that meant we still had time to do something outside during the warmest part of the day. Because there are so many geezer winter refugees here, we haven't found ourselves to be the only ones in the theater as we sometimes do at home even at 9:30am. Let's hope that the accumulation of our collective dollars will encourage Hollywood to produce more films that have interesting stories with well rounded characters who keep their blood inside their bodies.
And maybe they could release a few of them next summer.
