We arrived here at the FamCamp about 3:00 p.m. on the 21st after driving through rain the whole day. It wasn't too bad, just the occasional semi-heavy rain but mostly a drizzle. We have a very nice site at the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base in Virginia Beach. It was a back-in site that was very easy to get into with a concrete pad and full-services, including a gazillion channel cable which will be good to get the local news. I had a little difficulty finding the satellite but was able to find a whole though the trees after a little hunting and we are all set up. We will be leaving here on the 25th to traverse the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel on our way up to the Assateague Island National Seashore.
Misty and Gary just left so thought I would finish up this stop. We enjoyed seeing them again but the weather didn't cooperate much so we didn't get a lot done other than just visit, which was fine. It rained all day Saturday and we did drive around Va Beach and see it. It is a lot like Daytona Beach except that there are several historical areas on the cape since this is the first place settlers landed on US soil, later settling Jamestown. We did visit the Cape Henry Lighthouse and the point where they landed. The only thing playing in the surf on Saturday were the dolphins, much to the delight of Misty and Doris. I was unable to get any pictures since I had left my memory card in the computer - SORRY!!!
We leave early tomorrow for Assateague Island National Seashore for four days. We will have no hook-ups and we don't know how well Verizon will be working. Hopefully well enough to stay in touch with texting at least.
