When we were staying in Ridgway, Colorado, we planned to drive to Crested Butte the same day we visited Gunnison. We never made it that far. We decided to make the drive today and were very glad we did. Locals all over this area told us not to miss it, now we know why.

It is one of the prettiest towns we have visited in all our travels. Crested Butte is a quaint 1880s mining town and Registered National Historic District. It’s also the "official wildflower capital" of Colorado. In 2008, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Crested Butte one of its "Dozen Distinctive Destinations."

Everyone we talked to about Crested Butte told us not to miss the Teocalli Tamale Restaurant, especially their pinto beans. We stopped and got a bowl each, they were the best pintos we have ever had. You gotta go with what the locals say. :-)

After lunch we rode around and took pictures of this colorful town, we saw a couple of deer too. We enjoyed our visit much. Another great day in Colorado, check back later for more.
