Traveling Hwy 50 east along the Tomichi Creek for a while this...

There's a lot of ranching in this area...

We'll be climbing Monarch Pass, heavily tree'd in this area...

This fire is off to our right, it was small when we...

The road seems to go on for miles & miles!

Another view of the fire, it's still off to our right...

The road is turning left in front of us, we're just happy...

Aha, a beautiful piece of road!

Too funny!

Dropping off the mountain into this pretty residential area...

I-25 northbound...

A wildfire to our left, more than one we believe...

So sad, apparently several homes were lost...

This is the air quality I mentioned earlier, the smoke is very...

Welcome to Wyoming, the air is clearing up quickly...

Driving I-25 north to fuel up for tomorrow's departure...

Okay, so close your eyes ok? Picture John Denver...Can you see him? Now hum (or sing!)...'Rocky Mountain high, in Coloradooooo, Rocky Mountain Highhh...Well, that's what we experienced on today's 300 mile trip! Oh my, what a ride....We were up & we were down, and we curved left & we curved right. And the farther we drove the hotter it got. In fact, when we arrived in the Denver area about 4pm it was 100 degrees! For only the second time in six years our truck ran a bit warm. We of course did what we needed to do & it dropped back to normal quickly. Actually, it happened a couple of times. A 14,000+ foot mountain is quite a pull. We arrived at today's final destination, Cheyenne Wyoming at about 6:15pm tired & relieved to be there. We passed two major forest fires in Colorado today & the second one was off to our left & only thirty miles from our campground. I actually had to cover my nose & mouth as we drove through the area. The smoke was very thick & my sinuses went nuts. I was coughing & sneezing & was not looking forward to sleeping in all of the smoke. Fortunately, the air cleared as we continued down the road & was fine when we arrived at Terry's Bison Ranch, a Passport America park in Wyoming. They only honor PA rates for one night but that's all we planned to stay anyway.

The plan is to head out early in the morning & drive through Nebraska to South Dakota tomorrow. If all goes well we'll arrive there late in the day. So we'll see you on down the road. Thanks for stopping by....

P.S. It is actually Tuesday as I am posting this & we have arrived safely in South Dakota. So glad to be here!!!!
