It was another long uneventful driving day just the way we like it. We had fun watching the thermometer inch up as we spent the day driving diagonally through Arkansas. We turned down the furnace and put our winter jackets away. Hopefully, they can stay in the closet although experience tells us that freezing temperatures invade even southern Texas in January.
We are camped at a county fairground in Texarkana, a town which is half in Arkansas and half in Texas. The region is called ArkLaTex because the Louisiana border is a few miles away. Last time we stayed here we had the place pretty much to ourselves, but this year we are in the middle of a high school rodeo. If we had gotten here a bit earlier it would have been fun to watch, but as it is we feel lucky to have a spot here since the campground is full of horse trailers and rodeo participants' campers. We could have stayed in a regular campground at twice the price, but for an over night this place is perfect.
