After settling in, J and C went up to the roof bar to unwind with a prosecco and a large mythos, and a view of the Acropolis and the Parthenon - surprisingly little scaffolding visible. BTW, did you know that the Greek for “pissed” is mythosmenos.
We all went down to the Monastiraki square and selected an old favourite Taverna where we were waited on by the same old favourite waiter.
A light meal turned into a banquet - C wanted baked lamb with lemon and J wanted soutsoukakia (meatballs in tomato, with rice) . No he was told, the veal is better - why? Apparently the veal was fresh and the meatballs weren’t ( one might ask why they were on the menu ?). Plus a Greek salad and some zucchini fritters. C had a flagon of red wine, and J opted for a healthier option of Soda water! Needless to say we couldn’t finish it all. And the veal? It was a large 50mm slab and was so tender you could cut it with the slightest pressure using a blunt knife. A good choice.
Then time for bed.
