I had the privilege of seeing Gette and Rose this weekend up in Haines City in order to cheer Rosemary on while she did the Ironman Triathlon! (I had stayed in this area last December while I was cat sitting and Mom came to visit for a week.) There were thousands of participants that made the move to this city. It was originally supposed to be held in Panama City Beach but Hurricane Michael put an end to that idea! Haines City hosts half Ironman competitions, so they know how to take care of things.
Cindy rode up with me on Friday so that we could have dinner together with Gette & Rose and catch up on things. I made a wrong turn and a 2.5 hour drive turned into a 4.5 hour drive, but we saw native Florida! (HA!) They had rented a house for 6 days and invited other friends to join them. Zach and Claire came on Saturday. They are a fun couple who run and bike with Rosemary.
The Ironman Triathlon consists of 2.4 miles of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 26.2 miles of running all in one day! There are cutoff times where one is eliminated if he/she cannot complete a section in time. Rosemary did fabulous! She finished each section with plenty of time to spare! We are all so proud of her! CONGRATULATIONS!
