Our private patio

Saguaro cactus from the camp site

We headed out US 60 to Florence, AZ to I-10. We have always stayed in Eloy or Casa Grande, AZ, but our favorite park has changed hands and have made all sites 90 degree back ins. In the past we have always had a super sized pull through so we decided to try a different RV Park. We drove onto Picacho Peak RV Resort. So glad we decided to change location. This is a beautiful spot and cheaper than most parks we have been staying in. The people are extremely friendly and we have our own partially fenced paver patio. Weather was about 81 degrees and we had a lovely time sitting out eating our lunch. That all being said, we had the most horrific wind/rain storm our first night in. It hit a large section of Arizona and we were right in the heart of it. Winds like we have never been in before. We had to pull our slides in and then we still felt every gust. It started late afternoon and continued until about 2:00 AM. Needless to say not a lot of sleep that night. It did a lot of damage here at the park, but they were out repairing everything first thing. We had no sustained damage on our rig, but electric awnings were being ripped right off of motorhomes and they were closed. Little scary!!! So glad that is over. We understood that they closed the Phoenix airport because of the strong gusty winds. A freak storm! Lucky us!
