Carpe Diem at Wild Horse Pass Casino
Overnite boondocking just south of Phoenix...

Our Buddipole deployed for 10 meter HF

Fri, 24 Feb: Today we repositioned Carpe in preparation for our two week mini jaunt. Bob wanted to attend a big stamp show in eastern Phoenix (Mesa), and tomorrow we will head west to the Palm Springs area. So, rather than Bob driving all the way back to Casa Grande Friday evening, we decided to move "home" a bit closer.

Bob left early (for him) in the car, and Sandi got the coach ready to roll. First things first, she topped off the propane (no more running out for us—we learned that lesson) and paid up for next month's space at RoVers Roost. She hit the road about 1030 and had an uneventful drive north to Chandler (a southeast Phoenix "burb"). There she found a space in the truck & RV parking area of the Wild Horse Pass Casino right off I-10.

Bob arrived about 1700 and we had dinner at a Chinese theme restaurant inside the casino. Then back to the coach to run the generator for a bit to top off the batteries and a relaxing evening reading.

A good day...

Also a quick note: On Thursday, 23 Feb UPS delivered our HF antenna system. We bought the Buddipole Deluxe system and only had time to quickly deploy and test it. First time on we made contact with a HAM on the New Jersey Shore. More about this in future posts. See pix of the Buddipole.
