Left Sheridan, Wy this morning abt 8:00am, Traveled 355 miles to Great Falls, Montana.........the "back way". Interstate travel would have been some 540 miles, so we decided to take the shorter route thru the heart of Montana. We went from Billings to Roundup to Lewistown to Great Falls. Many, many hills to climb and didn't think the old Chevy would make it on some, but we prevailed, eventually. It seems the back way road engineers didn't follow Interstate guidelines on road grades!! The scenery was awesome the whole way. Every creek, and river was full to the top. When we went thru Roundup,it was clear to us that the town had been flooded only a day or so before. Many sand bags in evidence and lots of people putting trashed household goods beside the road for pickup. Some intermittent rain showers on the way.
