Road Trip 2009 travel blog

There‘s snow in 'em thar' hills
3 March - Larry showed up at my doorstep this morning about 11 to obtain the coffee that I acquired on Friday from Travis for June. He’s on his way up to Washington too but will be back in California way before I am. He started out this morning from Stockton and will be in Washington today while I started yesterday from Yuba City and won‘t get there until Thursday. Go figure!

I left the casino shortly after Larry did around noonish but stopped at the Redding mall to walk and eat (I had the best 700 calorie apple fritter ever). I had my eye on that fritter every time I looped through the food court which was at least 6 times. While I was walking Larry called and left a message that the road through the mountains between Redding and Ashland was clear. After resting a bit I finally got underway about 3 and headed up into the highlands. I like the idea of having a road scout however, by the time I got into ‘em thar’ hills it was raining, snowing, and salting (I got stuck behind a rock salt truck for a bit). It was slow going for awhile but luckily the snow wasn’t sticking too much and I made it through OK.

I stopped again at the Medford mall for another walk and more food (I had a fantastic pretzel dog this time). This was my first 2-story mall since starting my mall-walking undertaking and it was close to a mile around both floors combined. I did a total of about 6 miles in the 2 malls today. I also noticed other people circling the perimeter too so I guess I’m not the only one walking the malls of America.

I am currently parked at a RV friendly Walmart in Grants Pass for the night.
