|We didn’t leave until about 10:30 this morning because of the weather but we didn’t plan on going too far anyway so that was no problem, so we thought…. Montreal is not very far from Ottawa…. I’m guessing about 120 miles or so… The map gives us everything in kilometers so I’m not exactly sure….. We had already decided to keep going when we got to Montreal because we felt that it was just another big city…. When we stopped at the visitors center just over the border of Quebec, the nice people that helped us there felt the same way and encouraged us to continue on to Quebec City unless we had a reason to visit Montreal….What they didn’t tell us was that getting thru the city was not going to be easy…. In fact, it took us over two hours from the outskirts before we were finally on our way out…. Traffic was horrible… And that was at noon… Wonder what it’s like during rush hour?
I have to laugh as I tell you this but at one point we saw the signs of an upcoming tunnel… Well we stayed in the center lane where they told the trucks to go and all of a sudden Bill said, “I feel like we are floating on water.” Guess what? We were…. The tunnel took us under the St Lawrence River…. That was a first for us and we’re not too sure that we like it…. Bill said that it felt like he was driving on a swinging bridge...
We hadn’t stopped for lunch while we were in all that traffic so we opted to stop for the night about another 50 miles up the road instead of trying to make it all the way to Quebec City…. Good idea… We stopped before we got cranky and we only have about another hundred miles to go tomorrow….
We are at a very interesting campground….. We got into our site but have no idea how we will get out tomorrow…. We may have to back out for at least 150 yards… That should let sleep really well tonight thinking about it don’t you think?????
The free wifi that was advertised is a long ways away at the office lodge… We will go up there and see if I can put any pictures up…….
Well I tried... I got a few pictures posted from our first day in Ottawa but still have tons more.... I'll try again another time.....
