After the lengthy and complex trips we've been enjoying since we retired, this week's journey was no challenge at all! We took a shuttle from the hotel to the airport and saved a few bucks over the cab rides we'd used for our previous transfers and got to the boarding area much too quickly. The Ft. Lauderdale airport has free internet and a generous amount of electric outlets so we joined a number of fellow laptoppers in taking advantage of getting back in touch with the real world. As we neared Illinois all the snow piles we had left a week ago were no longer to be seen and the sun glistened brightly on Lake Michigan. The flight arrived back in Chicago early, the luggage came quickly, the shuttle took us to the lot where we left our car and forgot to charge us for the nine days we left it there, we stopped at grandma's and picked up our cat, at the post office and picked up our mail and were home in no time. We will never travel at high volume holiday times again! And those of you who have no choice will be glad that we are out of your way.
